Cinderella Skin

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed an increase in those “£3 trick the dermatologists don’t want you to know about!” advertisements? The “before” and “after” images are getting more and more absurd, whilst the claims more outlandish.  Apparently, if you mix random products and apply them overnight you will wake up looking like Jennifer Aniston! I’m inclined to believe you will still look like yourself, just with a particularly unattractive combination of hemorrhoid cream and toothpaste smeared across your brow.  One such advert claimed the combination of products could offer “up to 8 hours of wrinkle free, fairytale skin”.  What happens after the allotted time is up?  Clock strikes twelve and your skin is more pumpkin than Cinderella?
What saddens me even more, is the increasing number of websites that hail Botox and dermal fillers as ‘natural’ alternative to cosmetic surgery.  How the heck did that happen? There is nothing natural about injecting yourself with poison!  Meanwhile, genuinely natural alternatives have gained a reputation of being full of good intentions but hideous all the same.  I’m reminded of an episode of the Great British Bake Off, when Mary Berry, without smiling, sampled a wholemeal pastry, finally pronouncing the verdict “It tastes very worthy”.  To a certain extent, with regards to some beauty products, I agree with this sentiment.  No matter how much I applaud the ethos behind a life free of synthetic products, parabens and chemicals, that doesn’t compensate for the ineffectiveness of a vast array of natural products on the market.  As much as I hate society’s obsession with eternal youth, I would be a liar if I didn’t admit to sharing the desire to look my best, to wanting products that make a difference. Let’s face it, a checkout assistant offering you an unwarranted OAP discount wouldn’t fill you with the same joy as being mistaken for someone 10 years younger.
The answer to this problem, in Cinderella terms, is shoes - “the perfect shoes can change your life".  So buy a pair of sparkling crystal slippers and your skin concerns will be banished….well whilst sparkly is good for the soul (and I’m a firm believer that whatever brings joy is positively reflected on your face), the salient point here is to find a product that fits perfectly with your skin. For me, that crystal slipper product is Dr. Hauschka Regenerating Serum.  Like the little bear’s porridge in the tale of Goldilocks, this product is “just right”.  The fact that it made from the most environmentally sound biodynamic ingredients is almost secondary to the product itself – in Bake Off terms this would be the rare commodity of a wholemeal pastry that makes your taste buds sing and dance.   It treats your skin with loving respect, rather than attempting to sculpt it into some implausible plastic version of yourself.
I’ve included a summary of the key points below, I would also add that it is the perfect replacement to night creams, and I know a lot of people struggle with the Dr. Hauschka range for this reason.  But if you can, do ditch the rich night cream and give this a try, your skin will thank you for it!
